Cards

To manage your payments with absolute ease and security, Fineco offers the Fineco Visa Debit card, which is accepted worldwide and can be used for online and contactless payments.
The Fineco Visa Debit card is also available in the Euro version, which enables transactions to be debited to accounts denominated in euros.
Payments and withdrawals using the Fineco Visa Debit and Fineco Visa Debit EUR cards are only authorised if the available balance on the current account is sufficient to cover them. They are debited the first business day following the successful completion of the transaction.
The card is valid for three years, after which you will receive a new replacement card.

How to request the Fineco Visa Debit card

You may request the Fineco Visa Debit card when opening the account or later on from the Client Area of the Fineco website in Banking > Cards > Request a new card.
You may request the card directly online using the digital signature service, without having to print or send any forms. Simply follow the instructions provided.
Your request will be subject to evaluation by Fineco.

Activating your Fineco Visa Debit card

For security reasons, your Fineco Visa Debit card will not be active when issued.

Once you have received your card, you may activate it from the cards section of the website or mobile app. During the card activation procedure a text message with an OTP will be sent to your mobile phone. When you enter this OTP you will receive your card PIN.

Important:

- to activate the Contactless function, you will first need to make a traditional payment.

- If the account is not active, Fineco Visa Debit card activation is not possible.

Using your Fineco Visa Debit card

You will be able to use your Fineco Visa Debit card anywhere in the world, including online, wherever you see the VISA symbol.

The card uses Chip & PIN and Contactless technology. The contactless purchase limit for Fineco Visa Debit GBP cards is £45, and for Fineco Visa Debit EUR is €50. To make a payment for a higher amount you will be asked to enter your PIN card to complete the transaction. Please note  that these limits may vary depending on the country you use the card in.

The Fineco Visa Debit GBP card is enabled to use the Cash Back function for withdrawals at points of sale where this service is offered.

You may also use your card to shop online and in apps.

To complete online purchases from stores and apps that participate in the “VisaSecure” service, you may also be asked for two-factor authentication.

This authentication can be performed in two different ways:

  • Through Mobile Code for cardholders with Mobile Code: Fineco app will send a push notification on the device linked to Mobile Code. To confirm the payment, cardholders will need to open the push notification, verify the payment details and tap Confirm.
  • Through Online Secure Code (OSC) and OTP for Cardholders without Mobile Code: the cardholder will need to enter the 3-digit OSC and the OTP sent via text on the certified mobile phone. The OSC is given by the first 3 digits of the PIN used to confirm transactions within the Fineco website.

Cardholders have three attempts to confirm the payment after which the payment will be declined and a new payment request will have to be entered on the merchant website or app.

For purchases in currencies other than the pound (or the euro in the case of the Fineco Visa Debit EUR card), a 1% currency conversion fee will be charged. The exchange rate applied is the official VISA rate. For further information, please visit the Visa website.

Customising your Fineco Visa Debit card spending limits

The Fineco Visa Debit card is issued with a monthly and daily POS spending limit of £4,000 (or € in the case of the Fineco Visa Debit EUR).
The monthly and daily limit for cash withdrawals is £3,000 (or €).
You may choose to change this limit at any time from the Cards section of the website or the mobile app.
The following options are available for POS limits: £/€1,500, £/€2,500, £/€3,500, £/€5,000, £/€10,000.
The following options are available for ATM withdrawals: £/€500, £/€1,500, £/€2,500, £/€3,500, £/€5,000, £/€10,000.

Using the MaxiPurchase function

The MaxiPurchase function allows you to make purchases for up to £10,000 (or €5,000 with the Fineco Visa Debit EUR card) without using up any of the monthly cap on your card.

To use the MaxiPurchase function you must first activate it from the Cards area of the website or the mobile app and select the day you want to use the service. The option is activated immediately, so you may also activate it just before making the payment. Once activated, simply make the payment at the POS. This service can also be used for more than one purchase, provided the total amount does not exceed £10,000 (or €5,000 with the Fineco Visa Debit EUR card).

Using the Geoblocking function

Geographical restrictions
Fineco cards have no limits for the Europe area.

Outside Europe, for security reasons, Fineco may limit the use of the card for purchases and/or withdrawals in some foreign countries.

Using the Geoblocking function you can remove Fineco’s restrictions and make your card fully enabled for withdrawals across different geographic areas.

You can select the geographic area from the following:

- Europe
- Americas: North, Central and South America
- Rest of the world: all geographical areas not included in the two previous areas.

The card can be enabled without any restrictions for a maximum of six months.

eCommerce restrictions

The Geoblocking function also allows you to place restrictions on the use of your card online, for example, to block gaming and betting sites.

Confirmation of limitation settings

In order to confirm changes related to card restrictions you must enter your PIN and the OTP.

Asking for the Card PIN to be sent again

From the Cards area, you may ask for your card PIN number to be sent to you again via text message at any time. Click on "PIN Request", enter your account PIN, and then confirm by typing in the OTP that will be sent to your mobile phone. Shortly afterwards you will receive a text message with your card PIN. This service is free.

Blocking your card

If your card is stolen or lost, you must immediately call Fineco Customer Service to have the card blocked.

  • 0800 640 6667 (from the UK)
  • +44 (0) 207 065 7557 (from abroad)

Important! You must also report the loss or theft to the competent authorities within 48 hours, specifying the last transaction with the card and your current account number.

Keep a copy of this report for six months.

The report needs to be sent to Fineco only if specifically requested or in the event of any dispute regarding unrecognised expenses.

The block immediately inhibits the use of the card anywhere in the world, and, for security reasons, this is automatically extended to all functions.

A duplicate will usually be issued automatically. The charge for reissuing a card is £9.95.
